Music Offerings at the Fine Arts Ramble

Friday, April 16, 2004
Much care and attention is paid to the music that is featured for this cultured group of runners from across the country at this convergence of active hearts and minds.

The Dedham Choral will be performing for three thousand runners at the starting line of the James Joyce Ramble 10K on Sunday Morning, April 25 at 11:00 am on East Street at Boulevard Street.

The Dedham Choral Society was founded in 1955 by a group of interested
Dedham townspeople. From 1967 to 1993, under the direction of Brian Jones,
the Chorus grew from 25 to 130 members. Under the leadership of Jonathan
Barnhart since 1994, it is currently 120 singers strong, with members from
over 40 communities in greater Boston.

The Dedham Choral Society performs a wide variety of classical choral works
with professional orchestras and soloists, in original arrangements and
languages. They prepare two programs per year, performed in December and
mid-spring.

A spokesman for the group says, “The Chorus is thrilled to be associated with the James Joyce Ramble again this year. We are especially excited to perform before a unique audience in an event that has been so supportive of the arts. We are also proud to participate in an event that is so much a part of our Dedham community”.

The entertainment for the throng of runners, walkers and family members at the Endicott Estate after the race will be provided by Jud Caswell, a inger/songwriter from Brunswick ME. He is currentlysupporting the release of his third CD, Lost & Found. Metronome Magazine has selected Lost & Found as a "Top 5" pick for April 2004.

"Maine's Jud Caswell is one of those expert, multi gifted folk singers who
are surprisingly unknown outside their home territory. Caswell's guitar
playing is elegant, his voice both personable and tuneful, his songs neatly
crafted, his sound imbued with warm energy." -Boston Herald

"Caswell is a superb acoustic fingerpicking style guitarist. Inject his
warm, friendly voice and these compositions soar. Expect Caswell and his
music to grow in stature with every listen of this CD." - Metronome.
