Ramble is awarded national championship for three more years

USATF National Masters Championship

USA Track & Field extends the National Masters Championship in Dedham into 2025.

Indianapolis, IN.  October 26, 2022. USATF Masters Long Distance Running announced today that the contract for the 2023-2025 USATF Masters 10 Km Championships has been awarded to the James Joyce Ramble. This continues the partnership between USATF and the Ramble, which commenced in 2013. Since that time hundreds of runners have converged, each April, on the small town of Dedham outside of Boston MA for the competition and camaraderie that characterize a National Championship. It has typically attracted the most entrants of any Championship on our nine-race national circuit.

Perry Jenkins, Chair of the USATF Masters LDR Sports Committee noted, “I am delighted that we have been able to renew this contract with Martin Hanley and the James Joyce Ramble. Hanley does a first-class job, and we love working with our affiliate, USATF-New England, in bringing this national championship to the Greater Boston area. We know that they will deliver, year in and year out. The Ramble will serve as an anchor for our 2023-2025 Masters National Grand Prix circuit, an anchor that we can build on to bring national championships to Masters athletes across the country.”

Mary Rosado, US delegate to the World Masters Athletics organization, added, “We honored Martin with the Otto Essig Award in 2019 for his outstanding service to USATF Masters LDR. He continues to prove that the Committee made the right choice. He raises the bar for other Race Directors.”

Kirk Larson, a team captain for the Atlanta Track Club, echoed the thoughts of many Masters athletes when he remarked, “Hurray! I love that race! Our Club brings dozens of athletes every year to enjoy racing in a quintessential small New England town. The course is not easy, but you are never bored! What other race would have actors reciting James Joyce to you as you race by, focused on winning a national championship for your team or yourself!”

Hanley indicated how grateful the Ramble is: “On behalf of our organizing committee and the most supportive Greater Boston running community I wish to express how humbled we are to be awarded the honor of hosting the finest running talent from across the country for another three years.”

The next edition of the USATF Masters 10 Km Championships, hosted by the James Joyce Ramble, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Endicott Estate.
