Weather May Cooperate in Records Crumbling at this Year’s Ramble

This Dedham/Boston weather forecast calling for light winds and temperatures in the low sixties this Sunday bodes well for American distance records records to crumble once again at the 33rd running of the James Joyce Ramble, April 24.

The Ramble is the 2016 USATF American Masters 10K Championship and national age records have been set for the last two years.

Steve Vaitones, Managing Director, USA Track & Field –
“With the large number of road races on the regional calendar, the Ramble provides a runner-focused event, a unique theme, and a pleasant setting”.

The Ramble has been featured in the pages of national and regional magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Runner’s World, Yankee Magazine, New England Runner, and in daily newspapers such as the New York Times. It’s also been featured on ESPN Sports Television, National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition.”

The James Joyce Ramble is the only athletic event in America that has been recognized in the United States Congressional Record for its values and its human rights initiatives since 1984.

Among the Ramble’s attractions is the scenery and ambiance of the course, each of the miles named for a literary work by James Joyce with costumed professional actors all along the way interpreting these works with staged readings.

According to Vaitones, “The Endicott Estate location can’t be beat, the weather is always ideal for racing, and the community supports the runners.  And, since a championship is about competition, it’s nice to be at an event that always records some of the fastest times run in the state each year”.

The Ramble also has a most popular children’s run and a charity walk that raises significant funds for the Dana Farber Cancer Institutes Barr basic research fund.
